We make a wide variety of white and sparkling wines these days but our Conley Vineyard Chardonnay is always our boldest. We treat it like most of our red wines in terms of its aging program. Oak plays an important role with extended élevage of 18 months. The wine is racked off lees at 15 months in barrel. This extended, uninterrupted, time on the lees helps it develop its rich velvety elegance. The 2022 vintage was blended with a small amount of the 2023 vintage Chardonnay to add freshness and acidity.
Orchard fruits and baking spices dominate the nose of this year’s Conley Chardonnay. Think crisp pear and apple skin, baked with dashes of cinnamon in a toasty pie crust. Notes of walnut skin, pecan, and ginger add complexity while a fresh, grassy element shakes things up. Conley’s altitude shines through with a mouth-watering acidity. It’s fried food’s soulmate.
