This is the second vintage we have incorporated Riesling into our portfolio of wine offerings. In 2020 we released an ancestral method sparkling Riesling under the Pét Project label, but have been curious about making an exciting still wine from the same fruit. The resulting wine is dry, with only 1 gram of residual sugar per liter, and is a great example of how dynamic Riesling grown in Washington State
can be.
While this is a nontraditional Riesling, certain varietal characteristics shine through. Granny Smith apple skins and key lime pie balance its crisp mineral quality and ocean salinity. Aromas of lavender- scented detergent and beeswax candles practically jump out of the glass. A perfect pairing for this wine involves turkey dinners surrounded by friends and family, Palak Paneer take-out, or a breezy afternoon on the coast of Maine, enjoying fresh East Coast oysters on the half shell and a lobster roll.
