2021 Malbec

100% Malbec

This is our third Malbec release from Conley Vineyard. It has quickly become one of our most popular reds at Foundry Vineyards. Over the last several years we have sourced more fruit from Conley Vineyard than any other site we work with. Due to the combination of climate, elevation and farming practices we get consistently high quality fruit that we can rely on. Some of our wines see either all French or all American Oak but the Conley Malbec generally sees a combination of the two. This encourages a broader flavor profile that we feel enhances the qualities of this wine. Our focus with this wine is a velvety, fruit forward expression of the grape that’s fresh with soft tannins on release. 

 

A beautiful, deep purple in the glass, our 2021 Conley Vineyard Malbec is singing our favorite mixed berry medley. Blueberries, raspberries, and marionberries, in baked pie filling form, grace the nose and palate while an underlying gaminess (think roasted poultry skin), hints of leather saddle, and a bay leaf-like herbaceousness shake things up. Gentle tannins and great acidity give this wine the necessary structure to stand up to your next hearty dinner. Roasted chicken, pork tenderloin, or grilled eggplant would be welcome dinner accompaniments to this timeless Malbec.
