This is our first single-varietal Merlot release in many years, making it an exciting addition to our lineup. Sourced from Hedges Vineyard in Red Mountain AVA, this wine reflects the region’s signature intensity while showcasing a more savory side of Merlot. The combination of Red Mountain’s warm climate and unique soils creates a wine with depth, structure, and bold character.
Since transitioning exclusively to working with organic vineyards and natural fermentations, we’ve been selective about our fruit sources, and working with the Hedges family is always a pleasure. Their commitment to organic and biodynamic farming ensures exceptional quality, and this Merlot is a true reflection of both their careful stewardship and the power of Red Mountain as a growing region.
The boldest of the bunch, our 2022 Merlot shows notes of red plum, fruit leather, potting soil, and extra dark chocolate. Fuller bodied with chewy tannins, it offers more earth and less fruit and shows as the driest of our Spring Releases. A powerful wine meant for a hearty meal, pair it with something flavorful like a stew or roasted chicken with lots and lots of fresh garden herbs.
