This vintage of our Syrah from Conley Vineyards is another step towards the evolution of our wines becoming more youthful and ready to “drink now!” upon release. One of my favorite ways to create a less tannic and less dense version of Syrah is to utilize whole cluster fermentation, which helps to coax out the juicy and fruit forward qualities of the varietal. We first experimented with carbonic fermentation with our Syrah in 2018, and enjoyed the outcome so much we have started incorporating it into our winemaking more and more.
In the word’s of Carl Carlton, “she’s a bad mama jama!” This is one juicy Syrah, chock full of black fruit flavors, boysenberry, marionberry pie, and blue raspberry jolly ranchers. The high acid and bright flavors have us dreaming of opening this bottle with pulled pork buns drenched in gochujang and asian spices. Bangin'!
